T’gana BJP Leader Pays Tribute To Former PM
Hyderabad: Telangana BJP Spokesperson and Media In-charge N V Subhash, who is also the grandson of the late P V Narasimha Rao, expressed his condolence on Friday over the demise of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, acknowledging his integrity as a bureaucrat-turned-politician.
Subhash, reflecting on the former PM’s political journey, said, “Dr Manmohan Singh was an extraordinary economist whose expertise helped shape the modern Indian economy. His political journey is deeply intertwined with my grandfather, former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao, who brought him into politics by appointing him as the Finance Minister. It was under PV Narasimha Rao’s visionary leadership that Dr Singh initiated economic reforms that transformed India.”
Highlighting certain moments in the Congress leaders political career that remains a point of contention, he recalled a comment made by Dr Singh on Rao’s tenure that cast a shadow over his mentor, and the decision taken during Singh’s Prime Ministership to deny PVN a burial site in New Delhi, which deeply hurt the sentiment of many people.
“While Dr Singh is widely celebrated as the architect of India’s economic reforms, it is essential to remember the pivotal role played by P V Narasimha Rao in facilitating those reforms. History must give credit where it is due,” Subhash emphasised.
He noted that Singh’s tenure as Prime Minister was marked by challenges, including significant scams, and his subjugation to Party leadership. Subash pointed out the infamous incident where an ordinance passed by Singh’s cabinet was publicly dismissed by a party leader, an event that hurt many Indians who respected him for his dignity and intellect.
“Despite the controversies, our party, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has always regarded Dr Singh as one of the finest human beings in Indian politics.
